Even in the warmth of Orlando, Florida, a cold front has come through in the form of the winter overlay of High T. The downtown bar made a splash this past year with its fantastical Alice in Wonderland theme, impressive custom cocktails, and Instagram-worthy photo ops. Owners Addie and James Morrone, also creators of year-round Halloween bar Cocktails and Screams, aren’t known for doing anything subtle and Winter in Wonderland is no exception. Every nook and cranny of the already highly decorated space has been festooned with enough garlands, ornaments, trees, and twinkling lights that would impress all the Who’s in Whoville.
The cocktail menu has been reworked to make all spirits merry and bright. The old-fashioned inspired Old Saint Nick and tropical Mele Kalikimaki were popular as well as the house-made Mami’s coquito, direct from a staff member’s abuela’s recipe! Presentation is key with these drinks as the glassware and garnishes are almost like presents themselves.
If you’re in a snacking mood, platters are available for sharing from the Charcuter Wreath to the Oh Christmas Brie and Reindeer Chow. Of course, you just have to top the night off with milk and cookies while enjoying the live strolling entertainment.
Carol singers boost the jolly mood with postmodern versions of classics and a party-ready Mrs. Claus welcomes all to eat, drink, and be merry. A DJ takes over later in the evening to keep the party going to the wee hours.
Reservations are strongly recommended but walk-ups will be accommodated if space allows. A daytime tea is offered on weekends for all little elves to see what delights are held in the upstairs hideaway. A more traditional Mrs. C. is the hostess for these seatings and it’ll definitely become a top pick to create new traditions with your littles.
