Director Statement:
Growing up, my own experiences often felt terrifying so reframing them through surrealism and humor lets me capture the emotional imprint of those moments without being trapped by the real-world pain. Sovereign is the most personal thing I’ve ever written. I started it after a period of deep loneliness and isolation and wanted to find a way to translate that feeling. I’m deeply drawn to surrealism and horror as I've always seen life in metaphors while I believe horror allows truth to seep through those metaphors.
