Recently, I’ve discovered that more of my friends are watching Freeform’s MOTHERLAND: FORT SALEM, and it’s been super exciting discussing the show and its wonderful characters with them and the wonderful characters. The season finale “Witch bomb” dropped the other night, and it was crazy!

In this episode, the girls graduate from basic training, but while the others cheer with glee, our unit is left disappointed and upset with the outcome. They’re not going where they wanted, but instead, heading straight into battle. Not exactly ideal.

General Adler (Lyne Renee) sets the unit up for another mission, and everyone assumes it’s punishment for questioning her leadership. The girls give it their best effort, proving they have what it takes, despite their distrust for Adler. During battle, they learn that not everything is black and white, and that maybe some of the decisions being made are for the good. They realize they need to work together and trust one another against the REAL enemy.

Meanwhile, Anacostia (Demetria McKinney) and Scylla (Amalia Holm) find common ground and see that they’re not so different. This results in a surprising outcome that will change everything. The ending will shock you and shake you to your core: a true season finale cliff hanger!

After Raelle (Taylor Hickson), Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams) and Tally (Jessica Sutton) graduate from basic training, Abigail becomes desperate to prove her unit belongs. Alder eyes the unit for a rescue mission. Anacostia and Scylla find common ground.

Man, I’m still thinking about this episode. “Witchbomb” indeed. My emotions were all over the place. I didn’t expect that the girls wouldn’t get to move on with their education like the others, and seeing them pushed into battle again was upsetting.

However, I think it worked out great. The unit got to prove they have what it takes and that they do truly belong. Tally, more than anyone, proved that she’s an utter bada**. I still have my doubts about General Adler, but after this episode maybe she’s not as bad as I thought. I’m still not sure. What are your thoughts?

I’m worried about Anacostia, and what will happen to her after the situation with Scylla. She’s one of my favorite characters, and I think she has a heart of gold. I do think she did the right thing, though. I’m also still shook by that ending. I feel like maybe I should have known, but I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. Now I’m angry about that and have so many questions. I need season 2 to happen... like yesterday!

I really enjoyed the first season of MOTHERLAND: FORT SALEM, and I hope others did as well. It’s something new and refreshing and a fun take on witches that I’d never seen before.
