The weeks are beginning to blend together. Is it March, April, or May? Just kidding... kind of. One thing I can rely on is Freeform’s MOTHERLAND: FORT SALEM to drop every Wednesday. This week’s episode is titled “Hail Beltane.”

In this episode, the base continues to celebrate all things Beltane, despite the potential threat and recent death of one of their fellow witches. They think it was a suicide, but we know what really happened. To rule out any uncertainties, some of the witches perform a late-night ritual using Beltane’s energy, when it’s most concentrated, that will allow them to create a death current to communicate with the dead man. Meanwhile, Raelle (Taylor Hickson) is haunted by the tragedy and can’t seem to shake the feeling that this wasn’t his choice – something happened to him, and she believes it has something to do with Scylla (Amalia Holm).

As predicted, Beltane is unifying the witches – making them stronger and more confident with their powers. The men and women witches are appreciating their time together, especially Tally (Jessica Sutton) and Gerit (Kai Bradbury). Her first relationship. Her first everything. There’s a dance ritual towards the end that reminds me of an episode of Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It’s sexy, fun, slightly naughty, and freeing. It’s like their inner glow is beaming around them. We also see that Abigail (Ashley Nicole Williams) is becoming the leader she’s destined to be, despite her mother’s nitpicking.

Episode 4 was exciting and thrilling, and left me with so many unanswered questions. I loved everything about Beltane, and wish it wasn’t ending. I’m also starting to wonder if Scylla is really all that bad or if she’s being made to do these things and feels like she has no other choice? I hope so. Either way, we know Raelle is at risk by getting closer to her. Next week the girls will be attending a wedding with Abigail’s family, which is sure to be an utter disaster in the making.
