Independent Film Company announced today that they have acquired the U.S. rights to the thriller OVER YOUR DEAD BODY (formerly THE TRIP) directed by "Saturday Night Live" alumnus and Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone (Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping, MacGruber).
The film, adapted by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney from the acclaimed Norwegian cult thriller, I Onde Dager, features an all-star lineup including Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and Keither Jardine. Independent Film Company is set to release the film wide theatrically.
OVER YOUR DEAD BODY follows a dysfunctional couple (Segel and Weaving) who head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other.
“Jorma Taccone stands as one of the most creative and reliably brilliant voices in comedy and we are delighted to collaborate with him and our friends at 87North, XYZ, and Resolute Films on OVER YOUR DEAD BODY,” said Head of IFC Entertainment Group Scott Shooman. “The film is a dark, twisted, and riotous action comedy, with a killer cast – a perfect recipe to delight audiences on the big screen.”
Said director Jorma Taccone, “I am THRILLED to have Independent Film Company as a partner on releasing OVER YOUR DEAD BODY. I am equally pumped to have audiences watch this movie in real live theaters and love that IFC understands how important it is for a movie this kick ass and full of twists to have a real theatrical release. If I have a third child, I’m probably going to name it IFC!”
OVER YOUR DEAD BODY is produced by 87North’s Kelly McCormick and David Leitch (The Fall Guy, Bullet Train, the Nobody franchise); XYZ Films’ Guy Danella (Violent Night, Love Hurts), Nick Spicer, Aram Tertzakian; and Resolute Films’ Lee Kim (Dual, Get Away). Taccone, Tommy Wirkola, Nate Bolotin, Maxime Cottray, Timo Argillander, Andrea Scarso, Kjetil Omberg and Jorgen Storm Rosenberg are Executive Producers, with Karen Gillan serving as Co-Producer. The deal was negotiated by Scott Shooman on behalf of Independent Film Company and by Nate Bolotin on behalf of the filmmakers.
