Synopsis
INFLUENCER tells the story of Madison (Emily Tennant, “Riverdale”), a popular social media influencer who is having a lonely and uneventful trip in Thailand despite what she tells her followers on Instagram. While reflecting on her boyfriend canceling the trip, she meets CW (Cassandra Naud, “See”), a fearless and enigmatic traveler who offers to take her to some of the most Instagram-worthy locations. Together they share authentic meals and drinks with locals, discussing the differences between Madison’s online presence and CW’s lack of one. After showing Madison all of the amazing sights, things take a different turn when CW brings her to a surprise location – a deserted island that is completely off the grid.
About the Director
Kurtis David Harder is a prolific director and producer from Canada. He directed his feature film debut at the age of 18, Cody Fitz, which went on to play across the world at various film festivals picking up several awards. His second feature film Incontrol debuted internationally at FrightFest UK, to rave reviews and was released internationally. His two most recent directorial films Spiral and Summerland, were both released to critical acclaim.
As a producer he’s produced 13 films. Still/Born was awarded "The Scariest Film" at The Overlook Film. What Keeps You Alive, which debuted at SXSW, was named one of the top 10 horror films of 2018 by Rolling Stone Magazine. in 2019, Harpoon was the second-best rated horror film on Rotten Tomatoes, gaining certified fresh at 97%. His most recent producing credits include Superhost and V/H/S/94, the latter of which was Shudder’s most successful release.
