Event Review: Spooky Empire Holiday Pop-Up

By Jaimz Dillman

With just enough time to recover from a massive October event, SPOOKY EMPIRE popped up back on I-drive in Orlando. Even the darkest of hearts were merry and bright celebrating the season. With unique vendors selling one-of-a-kind gifts, some celeb favorites meeting and greeting attendees, and even some holiday who’s who posed for pics.

"Spooky is always my favorite Con and this pop-up was no exception. A highlight for me was meeting the talented and super cool Fedor Steer, he was a delight!" Said Alexis Williams

William Ragsdale of Gremlins fame, Danielle Harris from Halloween movies, and Alex Vincent from Child’s Play, and most recently the Chucky series, were also signing autographs all weekend.

Owner Petey Mongelli said, “‘It was really fun to get everyone together for the holidays.”A highlight of the weekend was a huge white elephant gift exchange held at the hotel pool Saturday night with quite a few participants both in and out of costume.

Vendor Lenny Helton said, “ I made my first sale there as an onsite vendor. Also, I really enjoy the fact that it is a really cool work environment. You don't get a lot of that nowadays.”

Spooky is known for being a very family-friendly environment accepting and encouraging a very welcoming atmosphere- even if things seem a little on the edge of the norm. I think Barbi Eberle said it best, “ Spooky Empire is like coming home.” See y’all back at the Wyndham for Summerween between June 17-19th!
