In a spectacular showcase of immersive storytelling, expert production, and day-long luxury experiences, EPIC Entertainment Group amazed VIPs, press, and patrons alike as the creative force behind Hotel del Coronado’s highly anticipated Grand Reopening celebration. From sunrise to sunset, EPIC transformed the property into a living, breathing love letter to the hotel’s historic legacy and contemporary future.
Tasked with interpreting and executing Hotel del Coronado’s ambitious vision, EPIC masterfully choreographed a multi-part, all-day event that blended elegance, innovation, and history across every corner of the iconic property.
“This was a 12-hour orchestration of story, space, and experience,” said Charity Hill, Co-Founder and Executive Producer of EPIC Entertainment Group. “Our role is to take our client’s vision and elevate it through thoughtful creative, intentional design, and seamless delivery. Every sensory moment, from sound to scent, was purposefully curated to bring Hotel del Coronado’s legacy and future to life.”
The day began beneath the legendary Dragon Tree, where guests were welcomed at a bespoke Grand Opening Hospitality pop-up. Equipped with chilled towels, spa water, and helpful information, it served as a tranquil starting point before guests explored a tapestry of experiences curated across the resort.
At the spa patio, infused waters and shaded lounges offered a calm reprieve. But it was the enchanting Garden Party that fully immersed attendees in the spirit of Hotel del. Entering through a symbolic “garden key,” guests encountered living statues personifying visitors from 1888, 1938, 1988, and a visionary 2038, blending history with future-forward creativity. Throughout the hour, the statues gracefully transitioned between poses as electric violinists roamed the grounds, serenading with modern hits.
Within this storybook scene, ballerinas danced in golden bird cages as patrons sipped botanical cocktails, sampled zero-proof elixirs, and grazed an elegant avocado toast bar. Custom crowns crafted by the famed Man of Wire offered keepsakes of a truly regal moment. A special proclamation from the mayor and a warm welcome from celebrity host Brooke Shields added star-powered shine to the affair.
Lunch unfolded at the resort’s culinary Outlets, where guests enjoyed world-class dishes from Del’s newest restaurants and Nobu served standout selections.
As the afternoon warmed, so did the vibe. From the rooftop Sun Deck, DJ Araminta spun an upbeat Top 40 set while guests sipped “liquid sunshine” cocktails under the California sky. At Shore House, an elevated poolside escape awaited, complete with boozy pops, sunscreen service, oyster shooters, and micro-massages in luxe cabanas. Models lounged on custom floats as the internationally acclaimed Aquabatix synchronized swimmers dazzled with multiple high-style aquatic performances. Later, guests eased into golden hour at the exclusive Ocean Club with a mezcal-forward happy hour hosted by Dos Hombres. Spanish guitarist David de Alva provided sultry sounds while guests sampled The Only caviar with celebrity founder Aaron Paul.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the celebration crescendo on Windsor Lawn. Designed as a luxurious California coastal living room, the closing reception featured nine culinary action stations, three signature bars, a cigar lounge, and a custom scent bar. Guests played lawn games and enjoyed a final performance from David de Alva before the American flag was ceremonially lowered at sunset. The evening culminated with a special performance by American Idol winner Chayce Beckham and a breathtaking 7-minute fireworks finale lighting up the night sky.
“A production of this magnitude is only possible when every detail is considered and every moment is managed with precision,” added Steve Sheldon, Co-Founder and Executive Producer at EPIC Entertainment Group. “With multiple locations, timelines, and teams working in sync, our goal was to create a seamless flow of experiences that honored the past while celebrating the future. It’s what we do best- turning vision into unforgettable reality.”
The reopening marks just one of many collaborations between EPIC and Hotel del Coronado. The entertainment and experience design company also leads the hotel’s large-scale seasonal productions, including signature holiday décor installations and immersive pop-ups that redefine traditional hotel activations.
